How to perform a Main Engine reset

The Main Engine is the control center of Clubspeed. Think of it as the digital power button to the software. With that being said, it is VERY important that you understand the risks of running an main engine reset during business hours.

A Main Engine reset occurs every day, typically around 6:00am your local time. These resets are necessary because when the system performs a reset, it pulls the latest settings from the database.  It takes about 30-60 seconds for the main engine reset to complete.

What if you need the reset to happen sooner than that though? Well if that is the case, then follow along this article as we teach you how to.

DISCLAIMER: Performing a manual main engine reset is done at your own risk. Doing so during operation hours can lead to complications and/or data loss. Clubspeed will not be responsible for any data loss if a manual reset is performed without our consultation.

Things to check first:

  1. Did you make all the changes you wanted. This will avoid having to do multiple resets resulting in more down time
  2. Are you running any races?
    • If you are running a race DO NOT perform a manual reset, as this will result in lost data for that race.
    • No races can be running when doing a manual reset, unless you are OK with losing the data.
  3. Are you running any transactions?
    • If you are in the middle of a transaction, specifically a credit card transaction DO NOT perform a manual reset.
    • The system will log off all terminals during a main engine reset, so you want to avoid a terminal being logged off mid transaction.
  4. Is anyone doing anything important on the system?
    • As mentioned above, the system will log off all active connections, so if you are doing important or time sensitive work, it may be worth delaying the reset.

OK, now to actually performing the main engine reset:

  1. Log into any terminal (POS, PIT, OFF)
  2. Click on the Clubspeed Logo in the top left.
  3. Click on "Restart Server" in the bottom right (Don't worry, clicking this button does nothing and just opens the next page.)
  4. A window should pop up asking for a code
  5. Enter in bb+your clubspeed password. Ex. bb1234
  6. Click on Restart
  7. If done correctly, you will see Main engine has been Shutdown (It is just restarting)
  8. Within 30 seconds or so, your terminals will be logged off.
  9. Once logged off, you can log right back into the system

Congratulations, you just reset the Main Engine. Your settings you changed should now be live.

What if I got an error:

If you got an error after click on the "Restart Server" button, such as the page that loaded has an error or says access denied, contact Clubspeed support so they can correct the error, as well as perform the main engine reset for you.
