How to Create Race Events
The Events tab is where you will setup all of your tournament type races. This type of race is referred to as an Event in Club Speed. It’s easy to think of Events or tournaments as containers for your heats.
For example, if you have an Event that is a 12 Lap practice, 14 Lap Qualifier and 16 Lap Main, then in order to create this event we would first have to go to the Heats tab and create a 12 Lap Practice, 14 Lap Qualifier and 16 Lap Main races. Once these are created we can head back to the Events tab and create our new Event. Let’s just say this Event is called a Grand Prix. In the Event tab we hit the “New Event Type” button to create our empty container that we are going to put our new heats we just created in. Once you’ve named this Event you can then click on the “Add Round” button to add our 3 individual rounds.
It should be noted that you don’t have to create a different Heat for each individual Event. For example if you have 3 Events that have 12 Lap Practices in them you only need to create 1 Heat type that is the 12 Lap practice, then you would just use that heat type 3 times over when you are creating your Events.
** Before you can create any event,
please make sure you have already created the necessary heats! **

- Drag the triangle circled in the image up/down the color bar until you reach the color you desire. Then, click on the color wheel in the bottom right to save the color.
4. SAVE!
Your events will always save in Alpha-numeric order, so you may need to scroll down to find it once saved! |
Step 3: Add Rounds
// Now click on the ADD ROUND button to the bottom-left of your event as many times as you need per round! NOTE, that you will get an alert every time, and will need to close it out to move on.
- For the below example, I have add in 3 rounds. These will be for my Practice, Qualifier, and Final. As you can see, in the description column, the system has defaulted to the very first heat I have ever created, so I need to go in there and select the heat I would like for each round.
1. Click the Pencil icon to edit your first round
Round No: This is the chronological order of your rounds, starting at 1.
2. # of Heats per Racer: Most of the time this will be 1, but if you have an Event where there are 2+ heats per racer you can change that setting here. For example, if you wanted to have an event where each racer got 2 qualifiers before the main event, you can just change this setting to 2 and each racer will now be put in a second qualifier before advancing to the main. You can also do this manually by just adding another round. It’s purely personal preference.
3. Description: Describes which race you’ve chosen for that particular round. Heat Type Name!
Assignment Method - Ignore if not using Team Race feature
Drivers Per Team - Ignore if not using Team Race feature
Win by: This replicates based on the settings you’ve chosen in the Heats setup tab. It allows you to see what you’ve chosen without having to switch back and forth between the setup tabs.
Racers per Heat: This setting is how many racers are going to be in each heat. It will pull directly from the heat settings.
# of Racers eligible for this round: <Only set on Round 2 and on> Percent of Racers or Number of Racers. This function controls the way that your races will advance. If you want to have an elimination type race you can whittle the Queue down by proceeding with 50% of the racers each time, this will effectively take the top half of each race to the next round. Similarly you can advance the qualifiers with 100% then use Number of Racers and a value of 8 and your entire Queue of racers will be vying for the 8 spots in the main. This means only the top 8 racers will get to race in the main event. Conversely, you can just set these to top 100% of racers on each one and everyone will race in all of the races.
Value: This is the value of your last choice, the proceed method, in either a percentage or a whole number.
4. Grid Line Up (for this round): This setting is a tad abstract and many people find it hard to wrap their heads around it. We have no problem taking a written explanation of your race types and setting them up accordingly.
Click here to read the explanation for each Gridding Type!
5. Score ID: Score ID allows you to change the scoring schema to a different, predetermined scoring schedule that you setup in the Control Panel. Most users will leave this at 1(10-9-8-7-6... ) or 2 (0-0-0-0-0...). Click here to learn how to add more Scores!
Inverted: If you check this box, this will grid the round reverse of what you have decided according to Grid Line Up. So if you set your grid line up to Best Lap Time, normally your fastest race will be in the front and slowest in the back. With inverted, this means the lowest person will be in the front, and fastest in the back.
Move: You can move the races up or down, changing the order in which they are run.
6. Click the Floppy Disk icon to save!
Step 4: Make Live!
Now that your event setup is completed, head back to the top of the page and click on the MAKE LIVE button!
This will push all of your changes to the front end (POS/PIT). If you do not click the button, all of your hard work will be pending in the /sp_admin. It will save, if you don't want to push the new event until a later date, but make sure you don't forget!
