Troubleshooting Result Printers
If a track is having issues with a result printer not printing, please check the following:
If they are having issues with auto printing after Races:
- Go to sp_admin > Heats > check the heat that didn't print and make sure it is set to print All or First Customer. Keep in mind, any changes might require a main restart and
- Open SQL > ClubSpeedV8 > Tracks > make sure the track they are having issues with has the proper printer associated to it (ex: "ResultPrinter1"). Open up Printers and Devices and confirm you have that Logical named printer installed. If it isn't there, you will need to either install the printer or rename the tracks table or installed printer. If you rename the printer, follow the steps Below to restart print spooler, end process, etc.
- You can follow these steps to install a printer
- If everything matches, see the next section to troubleshoot:
Club Speed won't print:
- Open Printers and Devices > go to the printer having issues. If it is grayed out, that means there is an error. Right click on go to Printer Properties > Ports and find the IP address > Ping the IP to see if you get a response. If you don't start troubleshooting a network issue.
- Right click on the printer > click "See What's printing" > right click and cancel all. Open Services > go to Print Spooler (or try this) > restart the service > open Task Manager > go to the Processes tab > See if csprinter or csprinter2 is running, if it is, End the process. After that, try to print again.
- Open a browser and put IP address in > see if there is an error message and relay what it says if it has one
- If the browser doesn't come, then it is probably a duplicate IP, walk them through changing the IP to an empty IP > change the IP in Printer Properties > restart Print Spooler in Services > try again
- Try to print a test page. If it prints > Open See Whats Printing & pause the printer > Open a CS terminal > try to print a result sheet using the Print button.
- If it doesn't show up in the queue: Verify which CSprinter they are using (SQL> V8 > Control Panel > PrinterFolder). If they are using csprinter2 > go to c:\ClubSpeedApps\cs-printer folder and see if there is a print Jobs folder (if there isn't, it isn't generating). If it is there, open it and see if a PDF just generated. If it does, then it is probably a print driver issue. If it there isn't, then refer to CSPrinter2 Help to solve. If you are using csprinter, restart main and try again.
- If the print jobs still are not going to the printer queue > open a CS terminal > view the result sheet and print there. If that goes to the queue, then it is a CS printer driver issue. If not, it is a Print Driver issue. If it is a print Driver, See below:
Print Drivers:
- If you print jobs are not going to the printer queue (or showing up but disappearing without printing), change the print driver to generic drivers. Search the manufacturer website for drivers that work with Windows 2008 R2 and try all of them. If the printer doesn't have 2008 R2 options, see level 2, it might not be compatible.
- If that doesn't work, Open a browser and enter the printer's IP. See if there is a Print Server option. If so, factory reset that. Remove the printer from the server. Walk them through changing the IP to a fresh one (or select DHCP & set a reservation). Then re-install from scratch (restarting the server after uninstalling and changing IP isn't a bad idea if they are closed).
