Avoid Manual Entry
We know you want your customers experiences to be unforgettable when they visit your business. That is why it all comes down to one thing, customer service. We know everyone wants to avoid long lines and spending more time than they should at the register and you will do anything to speed up the process. Unfortunately, sometimes by helping others, we are hurting ourselves.
What do you do when the Clover isn’t reading the chip cards correctly or you have to keep on swiping the card multiple times? You automatically think about entering the card manually. Although that is the best back-up you may have, it can come back to hurt your business.
If the Clover isn’t reading the cards properly, there is a reason for it. Your customer may be using a fraudulent credit card. If a chip card is not working properly, Clover will try to read the card 3 times before it asks you to swipe that card.
If you have to resort to having to enter a credit card manually, make sure you always ask for some type of identification.
There is a possibility that if you do not, these transactions will come back to you as chargebacks.
Never enter an American Express card manually. American Express will automatically consider these chargebacks. Always make sure to insert or swipe American Express Credit Cards.
Our developers are currently working on an enhancement to disable the manual entry. When the update is complete will be sure to notify all of our customers to avoid these fraudulent recurrences.
If the problem persists, try restarting the device. If you notice that your devices starts rejecting all cards over call, be sure to contact our Support Team to order a replacement.
