Slow server Level 1
When a customer experiences slow server response and performance issues, it can be very frustrating. The following guide outlines how to properly diagnose these issues.
Step 1: Review Task Manager
-
Open Task Manager and navigate to the Performance tab.
-
Review the following:
-
CPU usage
-
Memory usage
-
System uptime
-
-
A very high uptime often indicates the server may need a restart.

Step 2: Check Hard Drive Space
-
Ensure the server has enough free disk space to operate efficiently.
Step 3: Review SQL Database
-
Go to SQL Management Studio → Clubspeed Log (right-click) → Tasks → Shrink.
-
Do not execute the shrink. Simply view the information and close the window.
⚠️ If performance issues continue after these checks, the cause is likely hardware-related.
Step 4: Run Backup Script (If Needed)
- Before running any scripts please ask the team before doing it
-
Always complete a V8 backup before running any scripts.
-
If problems persist, run the script from the following article:
