Create Service Output Logging To File (FireDaemon)

If you need to create output logging for a Fire Daemon service (such as the event builder/gridding service) follow these steps:

Steps might be slightly different or not look exactly like the screen shots based on the version of Firedaemon being used.

  1. Click on the service to select the service and press the edit button or right click on the service and press edit for the service you want to set up the logging for.

  2. Go to the Logging tab

  3. Press the Browse button (the one with the 3 dots) for the Capture Stdout in File field.

  4. In the new browse window, select the desktop from the left column and enter a friendly file name making sure that the drop down to the right of the File name field is set to Log Files (*.log). Press Open

  5. Make sure that the track is OK with you restarting the Gridding Service (since it will likely cause Clovers to need to be re-paired, etc.). If they are ready, press OK in the Gridding Service Properties window and press OK in the pop-up asking if you would like to proceed with the install.

  6. You should see the new .log file show up named as you set above.

  7. Create a calendar event to disable the logging whenever it should be safe.

  8. To disable the logging, just clear out the Capture Stdout in File field completely in the logging tab of the service

If you need to take the file to send to a developer, but keep the logging going. Stop the gridding service (with the location's permission), rename the logging file that was created on the desktop and start the gridding service back up. You should see a new .log file with the same name show up after it has started.
