BlackBox Basic Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting:

Ping the BlackBox IP within the timer controls table.

  1. If you are getting timed out then it is a network issue.
  2. If you can ping it and the MS is fluctuating then this is correct.
  3. Open up a web browser and type in the IP. You should come to a Dehaardt BlackBox page which allows you to adjust the IP settings.
  4. Verify that there is no IP conflict going on by running an IPscan and checking the MAC addresses.

Telnet into the blackbox.

  1. You can use the IP of the black box following the port number in the timer controls table. ex (telnet 192.168.1.1 23) 23 being the port number.
  2. The BlackBox only allows ONE connection at a time, so to telnet, you would need to restart the main engine and telnet before the main engine hooks up to the BlackBox. (The main engine restart sometimes will fix the issue).
  3. If you are seeing passings via the telnet then close the cmd prompt and see if it is now working. (Only one session is allowed whether that be Telnet or the main engine).

Check the hardware and cabling

  • You can have them power cycle the BlackBox as well as the sector beacons.
  • If the sector beacon is showing "er" that means it has an error and needs to be restarted.
  • Check the cables for any breaks.

If these steps do not work you can try to look in the other troubleshooting articles for Dehaardt as well as escalate the issue to a level 2.
